For the large part of this year Mother had not accompanied her nephew Comfort to school. He was a twelve year old independent enough to manage his own travel, and she had made peace was that. It was only because she had made that trip to Masvingo alongside her husband, to help them take care of her mother-in-law for a few days, that she felt a particular miss for her side of the family, as well as the bond she had made with her nephew over those years of inane chats in the kombi. It would be hard to convince Comfort given his love of Western food to come visit Mother for the sake of a meal of sadza and beans at her place. So Mother called her sister Teresa to tell she would come to his school and take him from there to Pizza Inn, to have a bit of junk food before he would head back to his parents’ home.
